They look after me, and I look after them
It was a dream job.
One where I found myself writing the names of people I'm a big fan of (Ian Thorpe, Giaan Rooney, Camilla Freeman-Topper of Camilla & Marc, my La Prairie family). My work for The Sapphire Project - an ocean restoration fundraiser - came to life. I had illustrated the menu, designed the place cards, and hand-lettered every name.
How did I get here? Like most things in the creative industry, it didn’t happen overnight.
STORYTIME!
I first illustrated for La Prairie in 2022 at 3 events. Then again in 2023. And again on their Mother's Day campaign in 2024. This year, I was asked to contribute illustrations and live illustrate at the Dream Ball (an initiative run by Look Good Feel Better, a national cancer support program of which Rosi Fernandez (the Managing Director of La Prairie) is a Chair.
Ryan Gollan who organises The Sapphire Project, is part of the La Prairie family and that's how we connected, after meeting at the Dream Ball. And the rest, as they say, is history.
But it’s through these projects that I’ve had the opportunity to blend live event illustration with luxury brand storytelling - capturing guests, experiences, and details in a way that feels both personal and elevated. And, it’s a perfect example of how creative opportunities often build on one another.
Every job, every relationship, every introduction can lead to something bigger - but only if you nurture it.
Getting to work with big names is the result of showing up, doing great work, and genuinely caring for your clients. My number one tip? Nurture your relationships. Be reliable. Be kind. Deliver work that makes people remember you for all the right reasons.
When clients know you’ll take care of their vision, and bring creativity and professionalism to every event - they’ll want to keep working with you.
